Create an file in the /etc/systemd/system/ directory. To fix this we can create a systemd service that utilizes your systems lock function (xflock4) to call up the XScreenSaver lock screen prior to suspension. It only honours this setting if the system is instructed to suspend from within the desktop session. I've come across a bug(?) with the XFCE power manager where it won't honour the security setting to "Lock screen when going for sleep" if the laptop is suspended from a lid shut or suspend timeout. 
If this is left enabled, the laptop will suspend when closing the lid, regardless of settings made in the power manager (such as if you only wanted it to lock and not suspend when plugged into power.)įIX: Power manager doesn't lock screen when suspending Run the following in a terminal as a normal user: xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/logind-handle-lid-switch -n -t bool -s false. The reason for this is because it will override XFCE power manager settings.
Now to disable logind-handle-lid-switching. Add a check in the Security section "Lock screen when going for sleep.". Open the XFCE Power Manager > System tab. If it is, you can make your own startup script with the following command: /usr/share/xscreensaver/xscreensaver-wrapper.sh -no-splash NOTE: If the "Screensaver" option is missing from the auto start list, make sure that XScreenSaver is actually installed. Now place a check in the "Screensaver" option to enable XScreenSaver. 
In the applications startup list you'll might notice two options "Screen Locker" and "Screensaver." The "Screen Locker" option is Light-locker, so uncheck it to disable. Open XFCE Settings > Session and Startup > Application Autostart Tab. Remove light-locker: sudo apt remove light-locker. #Xscreensaver suspend lock install
